Burger King Ad Review: Why this ad is a mis-steak

National Hamburger Day Special: Burger King Ad Review.

Burger King is losing the paid social game with this video ad, and here are three reasons why.

1️⃣ Number one, I have no idea what I’m looking at. Yeah, it’s a game, but there are a wide variety of games. In terms of branding, it’s pretty weak. There’s a Burger King at the very distance, but that’s probably like fourth, fifth or sixth tier in my attention, and then the king — you only see his back. So you have no idea what’s going on. It takes like five, six seconds to realize, this might be a burger commercial.

2️⃣ Number two, and don’t get me wrong, fun is fun, but there should be direction for fun and Burger King is not highlighting their burger at all. You’re just seeing them play a game and then someone wins a burger, but you have to watch it a couple times to realize why they won their burger. Also, even if they won the burger, what does that tell me about Burger King?

3️⃣ Number three, they actually do highlight a product. It’s just at the end of the video. Instead, lead with that benefit, so the audience is aware of why they’re actually watching a video ad instead of just a game with no narration.
